Ok…Here we go again.. another know-it-all mom who thinks she has all the answers to raising the most well-adjusted and thriving child…
I think the same thing when I see Facebook blogger posts like: “The TOP TEN ways to be a great mom”, “DO THIS for your husband and he will never leave you”, or “how EVERYTHING you are doing is going to DAMAGE your children forever!!”
Ok, I know that’s a little extreme, but you get my point. So do we really learn from seeing all the right things we are not doing? I don’t. I want to read about people who are failing just like I am. I want to see people who are learning from their shortcomings and growoing as human beings not despite their failures but because of them!
I’m not Susie Supermom. (Sorry, but she’s fictitious shhh). I’m not going to write about the top 5 ways to shop and eat organic (not that that’s a bad idea), and I’m not going to tell you how to feed, raise, or train your children the BEST way. I won’t do this because I don’t know you. I don’t know your family. I DO know my family (ok sometimes that isn’t even true), and I know what has worked (and definitely hasn’t) for us.
From my greatest “AHA” moments to my most self-deprecating, i-wish-I-had-a-time-machine, who-let-her-have-a-child? moments, I hope to normalize imperfect parenting- because it is.
Treat this blog like a politician treats facts: take whatever you want that is useful to your life, and pretend you didn’t see whatever you don’t like. At the very least I hope to show you how much we have in common as parents and how we can become better ones. Join us on this crazy journey…
